In her program, Hoefle discusses the over-parenting trend and ways parents can integrate a less-is-more approach to raising children. She offers parenting strategies for raising kids who are mutually respectful, independent, cooperative and engaged.
Just as the name “Duct Tape Parenting” suggests, Hoefle says parents should sit on their hands, stay on the sidelines and be quiet. “Let kids make their own decisions and it will help them become more respectful, responsible and resilient,” she says. “Those three R’s will stay with them throughout life.”
With more than 20 years of experience in the field of parenting, Hoefle has worked with more than 60 schools and 10,000 parents, as well as teachers and other professionals who are looking to empower children.
Cost of the training is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Check-in begins at 6:30 pm. To register, please visit yfsparentsfall2013.eventbrite.com.
Proceeds from the program fund the prevention services of YMCA Youth & Family Services.
