Evaluation Services

Our staff is committed to making the evaluation process comfortable and educational for all involved. Evaluations are conducted by our clinical staff taking a complete bio-psychosocial history that becomes a primary tool in formulating an individualized plan of treatment. The evaluation data provides the basis for diagnosis and admission into the outpatient program if appropriate. The evaluation frequently includes information-gathering with the client's family, significant other and/or employer/school. The evaluation requires from 1 to 2 hours.

Treatment Levels:

Inpatient Detoxification

Inpatient detoxification is conducted on the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit under the supervision of trained medical and nursing staff familiar with factors influencing withdrawal. Detoxification is the medical procedure by which a client is supervised through the actue withdrawal process.

Intensive Outpatient Dual Diagnosis Program (phase 1)

Dual Outpatient Treatment (DOT) Clients who enter this level of care attend treatment 5 days per week (Monday – Friday) for 30 sessions (approx. 6 weeks).  Clients attend educational sessions and group counseling.  Clients are assigned a primary counselor who provides continuing assessment of progress and facilitates the clients treatment planning. Clients are evaluated and followed by a board-certified-psychiatrist while in the program.

Intensive Outpatient Dual Diagnosis Program

Continuing Care (phase 2)

The dual diagnosis Continuing Care group is designed to provide additional support and focuses on helping clients identify and manage relapse warning signs and high risk relapse factors. In the Continuing Care group clients continue working on issues identified during intensive treatment and develop or improve coping skills to deal with issues that come up in early recovery. The group meets one time a week for 2-hours. Clients generally attend a minimum of 20 groups (approx. 20 weeks).

Evening Structured Outpatient (phase 1)

Evening Outpatient is conducted Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and lasts 21 sessions (approx. 7 weeks).  It is organized so that each meeting includes a 45 minute educational session as well as a 1 hour group counseling session.  This level of care is particularly suited to persons with no prior treatment experience or those who maintain full time employment.

Evening Structured Outpatient

Recovery Skills Program (phase 2)

Treatment does not end at the conclusion of the structured treatment. Addiction is a chronic disease.  As a task of treatment, each client is directed to formulate an aftercare plan prior to completion of the initial phase of treatment.  Clients then continue in the Recovery Skills Program to improve their potential for lasting recovery.

The Recovery Skills Program meets twice per week for 1 hour focusing on the transition from intensive treatment to community based recovery and establishing a solid recovery program.

All of Suburban Hospital’s Rehabilitation Programs stress abstinence as a cornerstone of recovery.  Clients will be breathalyzed randomly and will be required to submit random, observed urine samples in order to facilitate the recovery process and ensure a drug and alcohol free treatment environment. Introduction to self-help meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Smart Recovery is part of the treatment plan.

Our staff includes board-certified psychiatrists, a registered nurse, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselors, master addiction counselors and certified addiction counselors.
