Suburban Hospital recognizes the importance of family and visitors in our patients’ recovery. We encourage family and friends to provide support to
patients during their hospital stay. Suburban Hospital also recognizes that patients require a restful and quiet environment during their hospitalization,
and our family and visitor presence policy supports family and friends’ involvement while promoting a healing, restful patient environment.
Visitors are guests of the patient or family. Visitors have restricted times during which they may see the patient. Visitor hours at Suburban Hospital are 8:00 am to 9:30 pm. One family member or support person may be present in the hospital after regular visiting hours.

At Suburban Hospital, patients and families share an important role with their care team. We know that when patients and families are directly involved in decisions about their treatment and care, health outcomes are better and patient satisfaction is higher. The Patient and Family Advisory Council was created to give members of our community an opportunity to provide valuable perspectives for improving the health-care experience at Suburban Hospital.
The Patient and Family Advisory Council:
Engages patients and families as partners in improving patient and family satisfaction
Ensures patient/family centered care
Collaborates with the health-care team and hospital leadership to address the needs and concerns of patients and families
Guides priorities and planning for the future
Helps grow and sustain Suburban Hospital's relationship with the community
Patient and family advisors can best provide valuable perspectives for improving the health-care experience when they meet two or more of the following criteria:
Recent experience at the hospital as either a patient or family member of a patient (preferably within the last year)
Time availability to prepare for and attend regular meetings
Ability to participate in decision-making by consensus and to support council decisions
You can read the Council's charter here. If you would like to join the Patient and Family Advisory Council, please fill out this membership application. For more information, call Nancy Miller at 301-896-3043.
Thank you for choosing Suburban Hospital.
