Bethesda, Md., (October 24, 2011) – The Johns Hopkins Health System was named first out of 53 organizations in Maryland who were included in the list of “53 Exceptional Maryland Companies for 2011” by the Gazette of Politics and Business. The P&B 53 acknowledges the top businesses and organizations in Maryland based on criteria that include the company’s annual revenue and employee growth, noteworthy product or service innovations, community service efforts, strategic insight executed through the economic downturn, and commitment to develop and provide employees with a nurturing and productive work environment.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Johns Hopkins Health System during the October 19 ceremony at the Doubletree Hotel in Bethesda were Leslie Ford Weber, senior vice president for government and community relations at Suburban Hospital, and Ronna Borenstein-Levy, corporate director of marketing and public affairs at Suburban Hospital. Suburban became a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine in June 2009.
“We are very proud to accept this award on behalf of the Hopkins health system,” said Leslie Ford Weber. “Patient care is the common denominator for everything we do, and this award is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our very skilled and dedicated physicians and employees.”
The Johns Hopkins Health System, which includes five Maryland hospitals and All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fl., was recognized for its many clinical innovations; initiatives to reduce hospital readmissions; commitment to providing high-quality; safe health care services; contributions of millions of dollars in free or discounted care to patients who can’t afford services; ensuring access to care by expanding its primary care network throughout the state; and creating a family-friendly organization dedicated to the personal and professional growth of its employees.
